Hotel Arts Kids Club Commercial Project
The Hotel Arts selected Kelley Interior Design’s concept for completely converting the Japanese Suite into a kids’ club during the summer months. Once the summer season was over, the space would be reconverted into the Japanese suite again.
The brief for the project was to create a children’s play paradise in the five-room suite while totally disguising and protecting the fabric covered walls, built-in furniture and carpeting.
To create a space that was both kid-lavish and kid-proof, we incorporated some fun and interactive but durable materials:
- On the long wall of the living room, we added magnetic panels eight meters in length with a large naïf world and Barcelona maps. All of the artwork was painted by the artists of Tento Murals.
- Visiting children could write their name on a magnetic fish and place it on their country. This was a way to help them break the ice with other children of other nationalities.
- Red chalkboard panels formed a wall to hide and protect the built-in night tables in the bedroom.
- Colorful rubber puzzle- shaped tiles cover the carpeting and fun design kids’ furniture is placed throughout the spaces.
